Summer Programs

Now Scheduling Summer 2026

Summer is a great time to catch up on concepts or to polish skills in writing or math. It is also the best time to prepare for the SAT or ACT, so you don't have to squeeze the test prep in during the busy school year.

I provide a 4-7 week individualized program in the following areas:

Mathematics:

  • Arithmetic review and math facts consolidation, fractions, decimals, percents, pre-algebra skills, word problems and problem solving, both within the Common Core curriculum as well as private school curricula
  • Online and summer school concept support
  • Review/preview of middle school and high school mathematics in algebra, geometry, integrated mathematics, statistics, pre calculus/math analysis and beginning calculus
  • Strategies for notetaking, studying, and test-taking in math
  • Math enrichment

Reading/Writing:

Here are some of the areas I can address to improve students' reading and writing

  • Reading comprehension, critical reading, deeper reading for literary analysis, reading in the content areas
  • Developing the writing process, including prewriting, outlining, drafting, revisions and final draft
  • Planning, writing and polishing paragraphs or essays (depending on grade level) with a focus on expository, persuasive, compare/contrast, literary analysis, summary and response, personal narrative or informative writing
  • Writing in conjunction with summer reading to help develop critical reading, as well as written response skills
  • Proofreading, mechanics, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and sentence structure
  • Building writing fluency, developing a voice and finding strategies for different writing prompts
  • Crafting college application essays

Test Prep

Summer is the perfect time to prepare for the SAT or ACT. I can help you develop strategies for the SAT and ACT (now online), including all-round test prep or a focus on a specific area. Both of these tests are evolving and I am familiar with the most recent enhancements and test formats. Practicing different strategies in the reading and writing section can increase your score and I can also help review the mathematics content, as well as strategies for different types of math questions. Now that the SAT has the embedded calculator, part of the strategy includes how to best use this to your advantage.
